An endless sunset: A virtual production test day.

With the recent explosion of virtual production, we were looking forward to experiencing this revolutionary way of working first-hand. We were collaborating with Bristol-based, virtual production facilitators Vero and DP Tom German to experiment with what camera and lens packages lent themselves to this style of content creation. With anamorphic and spherical lenses, super35 to large format cameras we helped afford Tom the ability to investigate with what worked best in this environment.

Our Senior Technician Elliot was on-set to support the test and help us learn ahead of more work with virtual productions in the future. Having the ability to control the lights direction, colour and position relative to time of day offers an unrivalled variety of possibilities when working within a virtual production. The technology is closely associated with filming ‘The Mandalorian’ and having the same technology available to our clients locally is very promising.
